Google offers 15GB of storage space for free. And Apple added the ability to automatically backup your Desktop and Documents files to iCloud Drive by default with macOS Sierra and iOS 10 back in March 2017.
And Box Drive is natively integrated with Windows Explorer and Mac Finder just like Apple iCloud (Mac), Microsoft OneDrive (Windows), Google Drive and Dropbox.
Box Drive allows you to stream your content from the cloud to your desktop. Earlier this week, Box unveiled a new service called Drive. Google is not the only company that announced a cloud backup product recently. However, Google will not automatically upgrade G Suite users from Drive for Mac/PC to Backup and Sync. Google recommends that G Suite customers continue to use Drive for Mac/PC until a new enterprise-focused solution called Drive File Stream becomes generally available to all G Suite Basic, Business, Enterprise, Education and Nonprofit domains. Google Drive File Stream is currently available for Early Adopter Program (EAP) members. And presentation files that are backed up can be opened with Google Slides or Google Drive.Įven though Google Backup and Sync is primarily intended for consumer usage, the new application will respect the current Drive Mac/PC settings in the G Suite Admin console. Spreadsheet files that are backed up can be opened with Google Sheets or Google Drive. Documents that are backed up can be opened with Google Docs or Google Drive.
Photos and videos that are backed up can be found in Google Photos and Google Drive. Google Backup and Sync will allow you to pick individual files and folders to backup. "On June 28th, 2017, we will launch Backup and Sync from Google, a tool intended to help everyday users back up files and photos from their computers, so they’re safe and accessible from anywhere," said Google in a blog post.
