Some chest freezer models have a dial with settings from MAX (maximum) to MIN (minimum) or Cold to Coldest. The number settings on the dial do not equate to a specific temperature. Unplugging the power cord completely removes power to the unit. Turning the temperature control all the way to the left to the OFF position will turn the power off to the compressor. The normal safe freezing level is obtained by setting the control on FOUR. The temperature selection on a chest freezer is made by setting the dial from ONE to SEVEN, with SEVEN being the coldest.
